The 2012 Tullett Prebon London Boat Show at ExCeL London is set to be another spectacular event for the UK marine industry with hundreds of must-see boats on display. The London Show is an important event for visitors as it marks the start of the next sailing year; when you can’t get out on the water over the winter the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show is the perfect opportunity to get ready for the new season. Whether you are looking to buy a new boat, accessories or equipment, need help and advice or looking to book a holiday, the Show marks the start of a new year.
South Hall.
Sail, power, RIBs and inflatables will be stretching the entire length of the South Hall as always and this year will see some exciting changes. Sunseeker International is moving to the west of the hall and will feature the new 28M on the main stand. Their impressive stand, stretching the west end of the hall and the striking Princess 32 yacht, dominating the east end of the hall, will anchor the South Hall and create an impressive vista from any location.
Powerboat companies include Sunseeker, Fairline, Brunswick, Ventura, Bates Wharf, Rodman and Princess with their main stand in addition to the 32M. Yamaha will again be building its extensive ‘marina’ with a number of different brands and EP Barrus will also be showcasing a full range of brands including Quicksilver, AB RIBs, Yanmar and Mariner.
Moody, Grand Soleil, J Boat, Oyster and Northshore are just some of those taking space in the South Hall or on the Boardwalk and Gunfleet Marine will be making its debut at London.
North Hall.
The North Hall will once again be an exciting area to visit with plenty of exhibitors and a wide variety of attractions to watch, listen to, or have a go on, in addition to the exhibitor stands.
With the infamous Black & White bar and the Watersports Action Pool either ends of the hall, there’s everything you’ll need in between to kit out yourself and your boat from oilskins to anchors and electronics to antifouling. Plus, it’s your chance to research and speak to experts on every way to get out on the water from fractional ownership to holidays and charter or choosing a new marina berth.
The Knowledge Box is back, with speakers including Jim Saltonstall, Tony Brookes, Paul Gelder and Dr Simon Keeling. Speakers will be offering tips on all manner of topics including looking after your diesel engine and even sailing solo around the world. The ever-popular Classic Boat stand will also return; where visitors can immerse themselves in tradition, learn about a true 18th century sailing warship HMS Victory and adults and kids alike will be able try their hand at scaling the replica rigging. Last year’s Cruising Chute moves into this hall and this year is expanded to include spinnaker handling for shorthanded cruising boats as well as top tips for racing sailors looking to get closer to the front of the fleet.
The Watersports Action Pool will once again wow visitors with some of the best watersports action on the impressive 70m x 24m pool, purpose built for the Show. The experts from Neilson Active Holidays and Rockley Watersports will be on hand to help everyone get on the water. Take to the water to try a diverse range of activities such as stand up paddleboarding (SUP), wakeboarding, windsurfing, dinghy sailing, canoeing and kayaking. Or just sit back and watch the dramatic action with live demos and professional championships by watersports experts, including the European All-Stars Canoe Polo Challenge and a pro paddleboard competition.
Going for Gold will be a new attraction for 2012. It’s set to be a big year for sailors and the Show is the place to see a host of Olympic Class boats used by Skandia Team GBR, all brought together in one place. Prepare yourself for the exciting summer ahead.
The Used Boat Marina will return yet again to the ExCeL, in association with YachtWorld.com, the perfect opportunity for some bargain hunting if you’re in the market for a second-hand boat.
