Iranian Company Gains Another Award –

NITC, one of the world’s leading tanker owners, has added yet again to its long list of maritime industry awards.

It was honoured when it was chosen as the best tanker company in the section of Tanker Operator Award at the recent Lloyd’s List Awards, Middle East and Indian Subcontinent 2011, which provides an annual platform to recognise and celebrate excellence within the region’s shipping industry.

NITC’s chairman and managing director, Mohammad Souri, received the prestigious award at an official ceremony in Dubai that was attended by close to 500 industry representatives following selections for the 14 award categories by an independent panel of judges.

The Tanker Operator Award, sponsored by Lloyd’s Register EMEA, had three operators on the shortlist, including NITC, which was also shortlisted for the Safety Award.

Afterwards, NITC chairman Souri commented: “This is yet further recognition that NITC is dedicated to the carriage of crude oil cargoes for the international community in a safe, efficient and environmentally friendly manner, and that will continue to be the measure of our future operations.”

The company has an exemplary record in matters of safety and quality, and over the last 15 years it has never had a single Port State Control detention or accident resulting in pollution.
