The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) is set to play a key role at the Gastech Conference & Exhibition being held at London’s ExCeL in early October this year.

The Institute, a Gastech supporting organisation, will be presenting a day-long Floating LNG stream on Tuesday 9 October as an integral part of Gastech’s Centres of Technical Excellence (CoTEs), a free-to-attend technical seminar programme on the exhibition floor. The Floating LNG CoTE stream will examine recent technological developments aimed at overcoming the unique design and safety challenges posed by operating an LNG plant at sea.

“Gastech’s CoTEs are dedicated to delivering knowledge, education and awareness of technological innovations – so there is great synergy between their aims and ours as the leading international membership body and learned society for marine professionals, ” says IMarEST’s Chief Executive, David Loosley.

“Dr Paul Jukes, President, MCS Kenny and Chairman of IMarEST’s Offshore Oil & Gas Special Interest Group (SIG) will chair our day-long stream starting at 10.15 on 9 October that will look at a number of pressing issues, including FLNG’s game-changing prospects for the LNG sector, choosing between liquefaction technologies, containment systems, LNG subsea loading lines, and case studies. We look forward to meeting Gastech attendees during a highly topical stream and at the networking reception immediately following the stream at 16.00.”

Gastech Conference & Exhibition, being held Monday 8 to Thursday 11 October 2012 at ExCeL London, is set to bring together thousands of commercial and technical industry professionals for networking, new business opportunities, the exchange of ideas and to showcase the latest innovations, technologies and developments across the gas value chain.

“Through its respected conference governing body, Gastech has long had a reputation of being run by the industry for the industry, and the involvement of IMarEST’s Offshore Oil and Gas Special Interest Group (SIG) helps reinforce this message, ” says Amanda Basi of Gastech.

“We are delighted that they are presenting the Floating LNG stream at the Gastech Centres of Technical Excellence (CoTEs).”

IMarEST will be exhibiting at Gastech on stand D276, and its ‘Offshore Technology’ magazine is a Gastech media partner. Its status as an official supporter of Gastech entitles all members to a 10% discount on the conference delegate fee.

Registration for the Gastech Exhibition and the CoTE streams is free for all industry professionals. Further information on the IMarEST Floating LNG stream will be available at http://www.gastech.co.uk/visit-exhibition/cotes/flng/.

Further information on IMarEST and its work with, and on behalf of, its members around the globe is available at www.imarest.org.
