Hill Dickinson’s outstanding marine, trade and energy team has been further enhanced by the appointments of legal director, Ian MacLean, and solicitors, Georgina Leonidou, Peter McNamee, Yumin Kim, Sophie Cordonnier and partner Andrew Gray.
Ian, a master mariner, joins Hill Dickinson from Ince & Co, where he was a senior associate. He has an extensive marine background and previously served at sea with Blue Funnel Line of Liverpool and Mobil Oil. Ian also spent six years in the senior management team at Hanseatic Shipping in Cyprus. He is an experienced conference speaker and chaired the recent London maritime HR and crew development conference.
Marine solicitor Georgina has joined Hill Dickinson from the Madrid office of Thomas Cooper. She brings a wealth of language skills to the marine team. In addition to her native Greek, Georgina is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French to higher translator legal and banking standards.
Peter joins Hill Dickinson’s marine practice in Liverpool. He was previously an in-house lawyer and claims executive for Charles Taylor & Co, handling all types of wet and dry P and I claims and defence work. Peter has experience of acting for owners and charterers in a wide range of deputes including demurrage, hire, new building disputes and cargo claims. He has also advised on international sanctions issues.
Yumin joins the firm from DLA Piper and specialises in dry shipping and ship building disputes. She qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and is fluent in Korean and English. Sophie, who obtained her law degree from the University of Orleans in France and trained in England, qualified as a solicitor in 2009. Sophie specialises in marine insurance and reinsurance matters and is fluent in both English and French.

A former Royal Navy deck officer, Andrew is an English solicitor and experienced casualty investigator whose practice covers all aspects of Admiralty work. This includes casualty response and investigation, collision, grounding, general average, oil pollution, salvage, fire, piracy, cargo loss, unseaworthiness, unsafe port claims and general marine insurance claims. He is also qualified to work offshore, having obtained OPITO (Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization) and OLF (Norwegian Oil Industry Association) approved Certification, providing him with unrestricted access to most platforms and offshore installations worldwide.
