by admin

Unfortunately Piracy has landed in our lives and in particular in our shipping business lives and need to tackle same with the utmost professionalism. Few know out of the 7 billion on the planet about the sufferings of seafarers – sometimes resulting in loss of their lives with incalculable repercussions for their families, as well as the high cost and the collateral damage to businesses worldwide!

This Maritime Anti-Piracy Seminar, organized by the U.S Commercial Service of the US Embassy in Athens takes place at no better time and it is a chance to hear specialists in the field from major international entities as well as a chance in question time to have your say!

The event takes place on the 5th  of June 2012 at the Posidonia Seminar Room of the Metropolitan Expo in Athens at 14:15 hrs and the opening remarks come from David McNeille, the Commercial Counselor of the US Embassy in Athens, followed by the Welcome Remarks by H.E., the US Ambassador Daniel B. Smith.

Dr. Grigorios Koutsogiannis CEng from Lockheed Martin will open the presentations on maritime anti-piracy solutions and technologies, followed by Roger Cook from Lrad Corporation, Jonathan E. McConnell from meridian Global Consulting LLC and Rick Whittington from Sirchie Fingerprint Laboratories. Commander William Jones, the Maritime Liaison Officer form US Maritime Liaison Unit-Europe/Africa in Naples will act as moderator.

The seminar will end with the Q & A time at about 16:45 hrs and looks very promising. Ink your diary and fill the Registration Form (3)  by clicking same to secure a place.

Considering that more than 12 billion dollars are spent every year on piracy (ransoms, protective measures, rerouting)- estimated 15 billion for 2015-, this is going to be a very interesting seminar…
