Vocational Training Institute “IEK XINI” of Piraeus awards WISTA Hellas!

The vocational training Institute “IEK XINI” based in Piraeus and offering many areas of vocational study, including shipping, aimed at ensuring future employment for their students, within the framework of its 2012 end of studies exhibition at the Peace and Friendship Stadium Olympico Café on Wednesday June 13th, honoured WISTA Hellas with an award of recognition for its activities in shipping and trade contributing in particular to the local community of Piraeus.

WISTA Hellas was among other honoured guests recognized for their contributions such as the known Journalist Stamatis Mallelis and Piraeus Historian Ioannis Chatzimanolakis.

Ιt is worth noting that General Secretary of WISTA Hellas, Ms Eleftheria Magiafi, Naval Architect/MBA, holding, inter alia, the position of Associate Professor at the IEK XINI, was surely the one whose valuable dedication for many years in promoting WISTA Hellas and its goals resulted in WISTA Hellas being acknowledged and awarded by the IEK XINI! We are certainly all thankful to her devotion to the Association!

Rea Metropoulou, supported by other past and present BoD members were there to accept the award on behalf of the Association and were especially honoured to be included within the special list of individuals. The Board and the membership at large of WISTA Hellas place education as top priority within their promotional activities and, in this context, organize seminars and conferences aimed at continuing education to empower not only young professionals but to strengthen the skills of the experienced.

The Board is currently hard at work organizing the next such event, information on which will be forthcoming during the summer months; watch this space!
