DATE: July 20, 2012 – COUNTRY: Angola – PORT: Girassol – FPSO Force Majeure declaration at Girassol Terminal 

According to TOTAL E&P Angola, a gas leak was discovered on the turbo-compressor A 2” purge line connected to the LP flare network on 16th July (Monday) at 3.15am.

Following investigation it has been impossible to safely start turbo-compressors A & B and consequently to resume production ramp-up. In order to repair the leak, the Terminal has to completely stop production.

In light of this event, Total E&P Angola, Operator of Girassol Terminal, is forced to declare Force Majeure at the Terminal.

It is not known at this point of time the duration of this force majeure event and the extent of its impact on forthcoming lifting dates.

DATE: July 20, 2012 – COUNTRY: United Arab Emirates – PORT: Ras Al Khaimah Saqr-  Port working hours during Ramadan

The Ramadan fasting period is expected to start around 20th July 2012 (today) or day later in sighting of moon.

During the month of Ramadan, the working hours of Saqr Port will be as follows:

Saturday to Thursday: 0700 hrs to 1900 hrs (standard rates) Saturday to Thursday: 1900 hrs to 0700 hrs (overtime rates) Friday: 24 hrs (overtime rates)

During this period Immigration and Customs will be working 24 hrs. However, slow work is expected and only skeleton staff will remain in office at the time of fasting/breaking.

GAC Ras Al Khaimah offices will maintain official working hours from 0830 hrs to 1430 hrs during the month of Ramadan. However skeleton staff will remain in office beyond official timings to attend to urgent operational matters and all key staff can be contacted though their mobile phones during said period.

DATE: July 20, 2012 – COUNTRY: Hong Kong – PORT: all ports Tropical Cyclone Warning: 20 July 2012

The Hong Kong Observatory sent out a Tropical Cyclone warning today (20 July) at 14 HKT.

A Tropical Depression is expected at position 18.1 N, 123.1 E, about 1040 km east-southeast of Hong Kong. The maximum sustained wind near centre is 45 km/h.

The Coal Terminal has increased their berthage cost (Utility Charge) by AUSD10 from AUSAD340 to AUSD350 per ship call effective 1st July.
