DATE: August 01, 2012 – COUNTRY: Angola – PORT: all ports – Permission given for development of oil field

Congo and Angola have given permission for the development of the “Lianzi” oil field. The benefits of the new field will be shared 50/50 between the two countries.
Oil company Chevron will be allowed to start its investment in the oil field, which is estimated to hold a potential 70 million bbls of oil.
Other operators are also working on this project, namely the national oil majors of Congo (SNPC) and of Angola (Sonangol) as well as Total and ENI.

DATE: August 01, 2012 – COUNTRY: United States – PORT: Mississippi River, Louisiana – Vertical clearance of Huey P. Long Bridge 

KMTC will conduct work on the main navigational channel of Mississippi River from 6 to 11 August, reducing the vertical clearance of the Huey P. Long Bridge to 130 feet minus the Carrollton Gage.
6-7 August: the horizontal clearance between both platforms will be 615 ft.
8 August: the horizontal clearance between both platforms will be 350 ft.
9-11 August: the horizontal clearance between the platforms and Pier 1 will be 615 ft.
KMTC will require a Minimum Wake 7am through 7pm, Monday through Saturday.
Air draft is defined as the maximum vertical height of a vessel reported in feet when it will reach the Huey P. Long Bridge site at MM 106 AHP.
The moveable platforms reduce the vertical clearance of the Huey P. Long Bridge to 130 feet minus the Carrollton Gage.
