Norton Rose Canada recently announced that maritime law and energy lawyer Wylie Spicer, Q.C., has joined the firm. Wylie has more than 30 years experience in all aspects of the offshore energy industry and is a recognized authority on Arctic law. He will be based in our Calgary office where he will focus on serving the firm’s energy clients.

John Coleman, managing partner of Norton Rose Canada said:  “Wylie will be a tremendous addition to our transport and energy teams and will assist our clients in some very exciting areas. The federal government’s planned auction of more than 900, 000 hectares in the Canadian Arctic for offshore development offers huge economic potential.”

“We will soon be launching a dedicated Canadian North and Arctic law team to support our clients’ growing interest for this part of the world, and Wylie will be an important part of it. His unique skill set will perfectly complement the international offshore practice of our Group.”

Prior to joining Norton Rose Canada, Wylie was practising in the Halifax office of one of Atlantic Canada’s leading law firms, where he was managing partner from 2001-2006. In 2006, Wylie was recognized as one of Atlantic Business Magazine’s Top 50 CEO award winners.
