Softship – the leading global provider of liner and agent software applications – has consolidated its North American presence with new staff and new offices in New York City.

On the back of continued growth and new clients in the region, Softship has moved to larger, more modern premises within easy reach of East Coast shipping companies. The location also allows the team to support clients across the United States and Canada.

Heading the team as Managing Director is David Willner. David has held senior-level roles in software development and support for some of the largest multi-national financial service firms on Wall Street including Prudential, AIG, Bear Stearns and JPMorgan Chase.

The technical team is led by Program Manager Eric Abramson who has more than 20 years experience in programming and supporting Windows and Linux based systems.

On opening the new office, David Willner said: “The appetite for modern software applications that streamline a range of shipping activities is continuing to grow. In today’s poor freight markets it is vital that operators squeeze every cost saving and realize every efficiency from within their businesses. Increasingly, we are seeing operators approach us to help them do that. Our new office and the team at Softship provide us with the facilities and the capability to continue to serve the North American market and beyond”.

About Softship

Softship is the leading provider of software solutions and related services to the international liner shipping industry. Founded in 1989, Softship’s software has been installed in more than 100 companies across the world. Its software products are designed to streamline and deliver efficiencies to the many processes that comprise liner shipping (commercial, operations, equipment control, finance and more) as well as providing a range of business management tools that allow shipping executives to fully analyse their commercial and operational activities. Flexibility is achieved through Softship’s modular format where clients purchase or lease only the solutions they require. Software can be easily modified to meet specific market or company requirements and is delivered as a locally installed application or through a hosted solution. Packaged suites of software applications are available for principals, agents and NVOCCs. Tailored versions are also available for shortsea and feeder operators.

The company is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany and has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 2001 (ISIN: DE0005758304). It also operates offices in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Singapore, and USA and employs around 90 people, all of whom have in-depth shipping knowledge.
