GAC Energy and Marine Services LLC (GEMS) has opened its latest warehouse in Laredo, Texas, to meet the growing demands of oil and gas clients who require daily import and export to Mexico.

Laredo is the number one inland port into Mexico with approximately 2, 000 rail cars transporting cargo across one rail bridge and over 9, 000 trucks per day crossing the four international bridges that connect the U.S. to Mexico via Laredo.

The new facility offers a full range of oil & gas-specific logistics solutions including Mexican customs brokerage, US & Mexico transportation management, freight forwarding, warehouse & storage, border crossing, intermodal, LTL & LTL Consolidation, inventory management and case packing carpentry service.

Its seven acres of outside storage area and 56, 000 square feet of open warehouse space can accommodate oversized spares including hazardous parts. The spacious facility can also efficiently facilitate the flow of freight to and from GAC’s oil & gas and drilling customers. An additional 4, 600 square feet of office space houses an operational team available 24/7.

GAC Energy and Marine Services’ President Carlos Arrieta believes that its specialised oil & gas focus at this facility enables the company to stand out from the other providers in Laredo who primarily handle commercial logistics and supply chain solutions for general freight.

“By catering solely to this niche sector, we can deliver the most time efficient and cost effective solutions to clients and prospects looking for land and rail transportation of oil and gas cargo to Mexico, “ Mr Arrieta explains. “Furthermore, even though very few carriers are allowed to enter Mexico, GAC has already put in place an approved in-house carrier managing the inland and rail concentration of the business into the country.”

Similar to other GAC warehousing facilities globally, the new Laredo setup is equipped with the Group’s global custom-built software application GACfreight. Designed to handle end-to-end freight forwarding tracking, P.O. / part management, and warehouse storage management with real time scanning (GFlite), the application also supports encrypted EDI capabilities with customers’ ERP and local customs authorities.
