24-hour general strike called

Greece’s two main labour union have called a 24-hour general strike for tomorrow (20 February). The country’s seamen will also be on strike.

Tax offices and other municipal services will be closed as employees are expected to join the industrial action.

Canal operating as normal, despite trials

Operations in the Suez Canal are running as normal today (19 February), unaffected by the start of civil disobedience trials in Port Said. The waterway is protected by the Egyptian army and no delays or threats to its smooth operation are anticipated.

Services such as crew changes, spare parts delivery and bunker/lube oil supplies are provided safely at both Port Said and Suez, weather permitting.

Maritime security operations are taking place at Suez Port as normal.
