Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), the world’s leading maritime services provider, is warning of a likely impact on crew logistics services in all Spanish ports after the main unions for Iberia airlines called a five day national strike in Spain from 18th February to 22nd February.
It is anticipated that around 40 per cent of scheduled flights and ten per cent of international flights will be grounded, with connecting flights to Malaga airport also likely to be affected.
Says Julian Isola, Operations Manager, ISS Algeciras and Iberia: “We anticipate that this five day strike will affect crew changes in Spanish ports and are working closely to keep customers updated. The unions have also planned further industrial action from 4th-8th March and 18th-22nd March.”
ISS Iberia will continue to monitor developments on behalf of ship owners and operators and will keep customers updated. The company has also created a dedicated email address for any customer enquiries about the action at iberiaops@iss-shipping.com, and further updates will be posted on www.iss-shipping.com
