PORT: Santos
New operational draft restriction
Since 17:30 local time yesterday (4 June), Santos Port is working with a
new operational draft restriction of 13.2 metres with 0 (zero) tide.
The new draft restriction applies from Santos Bar (Pilot Station) until
Shed 25/26. However, it does not apply at most terminals due to
restrictions at each berth. The berths have not yet been dredged and do not
have submerged structure to support drastically alterations on the depth.
Santos Port Complex has 51 berths but only 9 are suitable to receive
vessels with maximum draft of 13.2 metres.
With the new operational draft restriction, the Santos Port Complex will be
able to receive vessels with length (LOA) up to 335 metres with no major
restrictions on navigation in the Channel.
The ordinance published by Harbor Master ratifying the new operational
draft of 13.2 metres may be adjusted to 14.2 metres according to the rising
tide up to 1 metre. Vessels with a LOA of up to 306 metres have no
restriction to entering or sailing from the port. However, there is a beam
(width) limitation of 46 metres.
