PORT: Singapore Construction of floating sea barrier at Sentosa Cove

The working period has been extended for the construction of a floating sea barrier off Sentosa Island in the vicinity of Palawan Beach. The works will now be carried out from 1 October 2013 to 31 March 2014.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No. 118 of 2013, the works will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the two areas bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

1)  01° 15.288’N / 103° 48.518’E
2)  01° 15.227’N / 103° 48.598’E
3)  01° 14.410’N / 103° 49.802’E
4)  01° 14.356’N / 103° 49.755’E
5)  01° 15.199’N / 103° 48.531’E
6)  01° 15.339’N / 103° 48.455’E
&
7)  01° 14.295’N / 103° 50.259’E
8)  01° 14.362’N / 103° 50.359’E
9)  01° 14.339’N / 103° 50.380’E
10) 01° 14.282’N / 103° 50.318’E
11) 01° 14.273’N / 103° 50.280’E

The construction works cover installation of marker buoys with sinkers and Floating Sea Barrier blue drums linked up with stainless steel chain.

A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity to warn other craft to keep clear of the working area.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to: (a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
(b) Maintain a proper lookout;
(c) Proceed at a safe speed & navigate with caution;
(d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 68 (WestControl ) ;
and
(e) Communicate with West Control on VHF Channel 68 for assistance, if required.
