Pier upgrade works ahead of cruise season

To avoid problems related to flooding ahead of the new cruise season, the
port of Semarang is carrying out upgrade works on the pier used to welcome
cruise ships.

The works include the building of sea dykes (1 metre high) and elevating
the dock by 20cm.

To date, 300 metres of pier of the total length of 575 metres have been
completed. Completion is expected by the end of November 2013.

Scheduled locks maintenance

Beginning Monday, October 14, 2013, three 8-10 hour outages will be
scheduled at Pedro Migeul and Gatun Locks for miter gate maintenance and
reinstallation.

The outages will be as follows:

* Beginning Monday, October 14, 2013, at 2200 hours, through Tuesday,
October 15, 2013, at 0600 hours, the West Lane of Pedro Miguel Locks and
the East Lane of Gatun Locks will be out of service for maintenance of
Miter Gates 25, 26, 52, 53 and 64, and the installation of Miter Gate 29.

* Beginning Thursday, October 17, 2013, at 2000 hours, through Friday,
October 18, 2013, at 0600 hours, the East Lane of Gatun Locks will be out
of service for maintenance of Miter Gates 33 and 34 and the installation of
Miter Gate 30. At Pedro Miguel Locks the West Lane will be out of service
from Thursday, October 17, 2013, at 2200 hours, through Friday, October 18,
ay 0600 hours, for maintenance of Miter Gates 56, 57 and 65.

* Beginning Thursday, October 31, 2013, at 2200 hours, through Friday,
November 1, 2013, at 0600 hours, the West Lane of Pedro Miguel Locks and
the West Lane of Gatun Locks will be out of service for maintenance of
Miter Gates 39, 40, 64, 65 and 69.

As a result, and in accordance with the rules governing the Transit
Reservations System, Condition 1.a will be in effect on Ocotber 15, Ocotber
18 and November 1, 2013.

Applications for reserved transits while the abovementioned condition is in
effect will be received beginning at 0900 hours three days prior to the
respective dates of the conditions. During this period the Just-In-Time
(JIT) transit slots available for supers will be reduced to one per
direction and the JIT slots available for regular vessels transiting
without will remain at one per direction. The booking slot available
through the Auction Process, as well as slots available for regular vessels
less than 300 feet in LOA, will continue to be offered during this period.

New SISTRAM model for vessels calling Brazilian ports

From 15 October, data insertion to Brazil’s Information System for Maritime
Traffic SISTRAM (Sistema De Informacoes Sobre O Trafeco Maritimo) will only
be accepted via the SISTRAM IV website.

Users will need to enter the website www.sistram.mar.mil.br and from 15
October, the SISTRAM IV will not accept messages sent by email to
controle@contram.mar.mil.br. Ships are obliged to comply with instructions
given in Notice to Mariners NM-0200/13 or via the panflet SISTRAM IV
available for download on the website www.mar.mil.br/comcontram

The ships which are not able to access the internet should request their
owners or operators to insert the information in the system, as mentioned in
the NORMAM 08/DPC.
