Armed with this year’s contest theme, “Just as a flower in bloom is beautiful and bright, a beach that is pristine is sheer delight!”, 422 “HELMEPA Junior” Groups from 113 Kindergartens and Primary Schools around Greece, produced 413 artworks, reminding us all of just how much joy beautiful clean beaches can bring us.
As it happened last year, the competition was again divided into two separate categories of entrants: a) children aged between 5 and 7 years and from Special Education Centers and b) children aged between 8 and 12 years. Those artworks that fulfilled the prerequisites from each category were posted on the Program’s website, so giving all Groups and the Board of Representatives the chance to vote for the ones they wanted to be rewarded. Indeed, the winning drawings were:
P 1st Prize: 2nd Pilot Demonstration School of Ioannina, Epirus, Group 1402(A), 6 years old
P 2nd Prize: 1st Special Primary School of Kalamata, Group 45(K), 10-13 years old
P 3rd Prize: 151st Primary School of Athens, Group 1385(A), 7 years old
P 1st Prize: Primary School of Kontia of the Island of Lemnos, Group 2122(B), 8 years old
P 2nd Prize: 4th Primary School of Alexandroupolis, Groups 875(D)-876(D), 11 years old
P 3rd Prize: “Iliadi” Private School, Groups 2171(B)-2172(B)-2260(B), 9 years old
The two first-prize winning artworks are being printed as posters and will feature the names of the young artists and their Teacher in both Greek and English, and will be distributed widely throughout Greece and abroad. The members of the Groups awarded 2nd and 3rd prizes will each receive special Commemorative Certificates of Participation.
