New towage service

‘Pacific Tug Australia’ have commenced towage operations at the port of Bundaberg, Queensland.
A separate company named ‘Wide Bay Shipping Services Pty Ltd’ has been formed to manage and operate approved tugs at Bundaberg and at Port Alma.
Currently, they have one owned tug and one chartered tug at Bundaberg, with the intention of replacing the chartered vessel with two additional tugs within 6-8 weeks.
Tariffs for both Bundaberg and Port Alma are available upon request.

Change to channel depth

The Port of Townsville Ltd. advises that the new depth in the Platypus Channel from today (3 September) is 11.4 metres.

Adverse weather affecting port operations
September 03, 2014, Australia, Port Kembla
Port Kembla port was closed from 2205 hours yesterday (2 September) due to adverse weather. Duty pilots will assess the situation during the day today.
Meanwhile, pilotage Services at Sydney were suspended from 0600 hours this morning due to 10m swell and winds at 38 knots.
At Newcastle, the entrance to the port is currently classed as heavily restricted affecting both inward and outbound movements, The Vessel Traffic Information Centre advises they are experiencing waves between 10-11m.

Online system upgrade
September 03, 2014, Turkey, Istanbul
All departments of Istanbul Harbour Master will undergo will be an online system renewal/upgrade from 23:00 hours on Saturday (6 September) and 21:00 hours on 7 September.
Any port related operational matters such arrival/departure control, crew change, etc. should therefore be communicated to the Harbour Master by the afternopon of Frikday 5 September at the latest.
