A swimming event will take place off Tsim Sha Tsui on Tuesday, 9 September 2014. About 250 swimmers are expected to participate in the event.
The event will commence from the Tsim Sha Tsui East No.2 landing steps at about 1100 hours and finish off at the Kowloon Public Pier No.1 and 2 landing steps at about 1300 hours. Vessels should avoid using the above mentioned landing steps during the period from approximately 1030 hours to 1130 hours and 1200 hours to 1300 hours respectively and keep sailing well clear of the swimmers.
Several guard boats will be employed to escort the swimmers. A drawing showing the swimming route is attached to this Notice.
Masters, coxswains and persons-in-charge of vessels navigating in the vicinity of the Central Fairway and the Hung Hom Fairway should proceed with extreme caution, giving practical consideration to the swimmers. Compliance with the provisions of the International Regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea, 1972 is mandatory.
