Charlie Hebdo: a vexed question needs an answer

by admin

WP_20150111_036Over a million people, in an unprecedented turn out, took to the streets in Paris earlier this afternoon – and over two plus million all over France, together with 40 plus political leaders in a show of unity – and hopefully real solidarity, condemned what has happened. The marsh begun from the Place de la Republique and ended at the Place de la Nation with marchers waving French flags chanting Liberte and Charlie with respect the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine and singing the national anthem.

It was good to see the political leaders linking arms in an act of solidarity and we sincerely hope they will establish a zero tolerance coherent policy to stop worldwide these murderous acts from which ever side they emanate!

The attack on Charlie Hebdo and the atrocious murders in cold blood of the journalists there, as well as later on against police officers and the kosher supermarket must be the end of such acts of ultra violence, otherwise we fear a big mess in Europe and other parts of the world and we must ensure we contain the situation here and now.

Remember: the mighty pen will always be the mighty pen and humour never dies! Let’s hope that the meeting of the European Union interior ministers, as well as others in the periphery  not only addresses the real threat to society and its repercussions, but swiftly acts! All accomplices of this atrocity must be brought to justice and all nations, irrespective of religion, must contribute to this!
