February 25, 2015 – The Hamburg office of Ince & Co has advised the Chilean shipping company Compañía Chilena de Navegación Interoceánica S.A. (CCNI) on a cross-border asset deal with the German shipping line Hamburg Südamerikanische Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft KG (Hamburg Süd). The transaction comprises the sale and transfer of CCNI’s container liner services as well as the related agency activities of the Chilean maritime agent Agunsa Agencias Universales S.A. (Agunsa).
The transaction is scheduled to close at the end of March 2015, subject to approval by the competent antitrust authorities.
Dr. Jan Hungar, Managing Partner of the Hamburg office of Ince & Co, said “We are delighted to have been able to assist CCNI in selling their container liner business to Hamburg Süd. After the merger between HAPAG LLOYD and CSAV this is now a further deal between a major Hamburg and a Chilean liner company reflecting the tight connection between the Hamburg maritime community and Chile. It has been a great pleasure to work with the CCNI team throughout the whole transaction which involved a multitude of complex legal and logistical issues.”
The Ince & Co Hamburg team was led by Dr. Jan Hungar (lead partner) and Dr. Christopher Quandt (lead coordinator), advising CCNI on all aspects of the transaction. Ince & Co’s corporate lawyers provide advice on a wide range of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, joint ventures as well as corporate restructurings.
