WISTA Denmark has added two new members to its governing board, strengthening its links with marine insurance and with the ship classification sector.
At the 2015 annual meeting of the Danish section of the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association, Sonja Nøhr Olsen, underwriter for marine hull global specialty lines at Codan, Copenhagen; and Mette Rosenby, contract and office manager for the Bureau Veritas marine branch Denmark, were elected to serve on the board.
WISTA Denmark president Irene Rosberg, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sonja and Mette to our board. They are distinguished in their specialities and will further strengthen WISTA Denmark in its contribution to WISTA’s Nordic activities and WISTA International.” WISTA is a global organisation for female executives in the maritime and related trades.
Ms Olsen has considerable experience in the marine insurance sector, starting as a student with Hafnia Insurance and becoming a qualified underwriter in international energy and marine there, switching in 1993 to Codan, part of the major insurance group RSA.
Ms Rosenby has an important role at the inspection and classification group Bureau Veritas, as contract and office manager, and special assistant to the marine chief executive of the Denmark & Sweden operation, posts she has held since 2008.
Previously, Ms Rosenby was head of administration at the Danish Embassy in Washington DC, and administrative assistant at the Danish and Norwegian Embassy in Hanoi.
She graduated from the Copenhagen Business School Executive MBA in Shipping & Logistics (the Blue MBA) in 2013 and has a Master’s degree in political science from the University of Copenhagen. She is also a member of the maritime network Søfartsteknisk Forening.
The composition of the WISTA Denmark board is now: president, Irene Rosberg, who is programme director for the Blue MBA; secretary/event manager, Mette Rosenby; treasurer, Mariika Virrankoski-Poulsen of ProMare, a company offering legal consultation and corporate services in the maritime industry; communications manager, Christina Agrafioti of Maersk Broker; co-ordinator for Nordic collaboration, Helle Gleie of Itolead Consultancy Group and Rhetorica A/S; Sonja Olsen.
