Upgrading works
May 20, 2015, Singapore, Jurong Port

The working period for upgrading works at Jurong Terminal Bearth J10 & J11 has been extended.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine Notice No.47 of 2015, the works will be carried out 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – from 23 May to 23 November, within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

A) 01 deg. 18.504’N / 103 deg. 42.951’E

B) 01 deg. 18.471’N / 103 deg. 42.923’E

C) 01 deg. 18.406’N / 103 deg. 43.000’E

D) 01 deg. 18.439’N / 103 deg. 43.028’E

Upgrading works will entail dredging, shore protection work, demolition and reconstruction of berth J10 & J11.

Dredging work will be carried out by grab dredgers which will be held by four anchors. The dredged materials will be loaded onto hopper barges and transported to designated dumping ground by pusher tugboats.

The grab dredgers with hopper barges in attendance will have a circular safety working zone of 50 metres centred at the dredger.

A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other craft of the project.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;

b) Maintain a proper lookout;

c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;

d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 25 (Pasir Panjang Control);

and

e) Communicate with Pasir Panjang Control on VHF Channel 25 for assistance, if required.
