International law firm Hill Dickinson has expanded its offering in the private aviation sector with the appointment of Jonathan Russell to assist it in the further development of this key area alongside the firm’s existing aviation and superyacht teams. Jonathan will be joining the firm as a senior associate and brings with him nine years’ experience in business jet and private aviation transactional work gained with city firm Holman Fenwick Willan, with a particular focus on the sale and purchase and financing of new and used private aircraft.
The private aviation sector is seen by the firm – and the wider market – as a natural complement to the superyacht work for which the firm has long enjoyed a market-leading reputation and the appointment will allow the firm to provide a more comprehensive service to its existing clients and the wider marketplace.
Welcoming Jonathan to Hill Dickinson, Maria Pittordis, Group Leader for Marine, Energy and Trade, said: “Jonathan’s wide experience and knowledge will serve to enhance our reputation in the important private aviation sector.”
Panos Pourgourides, head of the firm’s Specialist Asset Finance Group which focusses on the ultra-high net worth sector, sees the appointment as being a natural extension of its existing practice: “So often we have private clients who rely on us for all their yacht work and who want the same level and breadth of service in relation to their aircraft. The fact that so many of the banks we act for in the yacht finance market also offer financing for private aircraft makes the decision to further invest in this area a very easy one given the strength of demand from clients. As a result, we are very excited by Jonathan’s arrival.”
