NORFOLK, Va. – Sept. 28, 2016 – (Marine NewsWire) TOTAL Lubmarine has announced plans to hold a special seminar for shipping companies in Stamford, Conn., just prior to the SHIPPINGInsight 2016 Fleet Optimization Conference & Exhibition.
The TOTAL Lubmarine Shipping Community Meeting will take place Monday, Oct. 17, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa. Attendees are invited to join the SHIPPINGInsight cocktail party at 6:00 p.m., and are also welcome to stay for the full conference on Tuesday and Wednesday with complimentary registration.
The theme of TOTAL Lubmarine’s seminar is “Risk and Complexity in Marine Engineering.” It will feature a speaker from the National Transportation Safety Board and TOTAL Lubmarine’s marketing and technical directors, Serge Dal-Farra and Jean-Philippe Roman, who will introduce Talusia Optima, a new-generation single oil based on innovative chemistry.
“The new international restrictions on the use of high-sulfur fuels in ECA compliance zones are creating enormous problems for ship operators,” said Roman. “Talusia Optima is the first and only cylinder lube oil on the market able to lubricate engines operating with fuels with any sulfur content. It will bring an end to the need for vessels to change lubricant when entering and leaving ECAs, making life easier for ships’ crews.”
“The subject of new alternatives to high-sulfur bunkers will be prominent on the agenda for this year’s SHIPPINGInsight,” said conference co-director Jim Rhodes. “We will have a half-day session dedicated specifically to fuel and propulsion issues.”
