Customized rope and cable specialist Cortland Company, Inc. has announced a strategic cooperation agreement with KWINT Offshore B.V.

KWINT will be the European distributor of Cortland synthetic ropes and slings, including the highly respected Plasma® Rope and Selantic® Slings.  KWINT will provide a breadth of services including inspection, repair, splicing, and storage to existing and new customers in oil and gas, renewable and industrial applications.

The deal strengthens Cortland’s share of the commercial heavy marine and rigging markets in Europe. The option to have Cortland’s full suite of products serviced from KWINT facilities will provide greater speed and ease of logistics for customers.

Stuart Janke, VP of Global Sales for Cortland Rope & Assemblies, said: “By combining our expertise with that of KWINT we can offer an expanded and comprehensive portfolio of synthetic products to Europe and provide more efficient solutions to meet customers’ increasing demands.”

Jerry Bakx, managing director of KWINT Offshore B.V., added: “This cooperation matches perfectly with our technical / commercial policy and intended expansion in the market.

“By adding the product portfolio of Cortland, the scope of supply of KWINT Offshore will be complete with rope and sling solutions; for any lifting, mooring, towing question, there will be one port of call: KWINT Offshore.”

KWINT Offshore is a specialist hoisting and lifting solutions provider and has four workshops in the Netherlands.

The agreement with Cortland aligns with opening of a new 13,800m2 KWINT facility in the Port of Rotterdam. Customers accessing KWINT services will be able to use the quayside of this base for vessel mooring.
