Konstantinos Vassiliadis, president of Chios Marine Club, cutting the Vassilopitta
Chios Marine Club’s (CMC) annual Vassilopitta cutting event took place last Wednesday at Athens’ Metropolitan Hotel in the Corfu Room with the presence of nearly 180 members and friends.
The event began with the welcome greeting-speech by the President of the Club Konstantinos Vassiliadis and was followed by a highly informative presentation by John Mandalas – CEO of Mastihashop chain-outlets, on: “The Mastic of Chios, opportunities for local development”.-
Afterwards come an awards ceremony for the Chian students who excelled in their entry exams for the Merchant Marine Academy of Engineers in Chios, the Deck Officers Merchant Marine Academy in Innousses of Chios and the University of Aegean. Nikos Foros, the technical director of captain Loukas Ktistakis’ Harbor shipping, the sponsor, and CMC member, delivered the awards.
Two lucky punters, Antonis Gregos and Rolandi Foros won this year’s Vassilopitta sovereigns!

A buffet reception took place at the Trocadero Room where members and friends in a very jovial atmosphere celebrated the New Year and had the chance to exchange wishes, views and network too.
The President and the secretariat of Chios Marine Club warmly thanked Harbor Shipping for the awards, Ifaistus for supporting and producing the ladies annual diaries, and Golden Cargo/Golden Courier for its support and free distribution of the Annual CMC 2017 Calendars, as well as all those present at the event.
