The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) remained stuck and let’s hope thing go for the better as trade wars might make it uncomfortable for shipping companies; John Faraclas daily market briefing and Geopolitics recap:
The Capes gained 20 points since yesterday and the BCI now stands at 1,129 points… Earning US$ 21,000 per day on period though isn’t bad at all!
The Panamaxes and the BPI lost 13 – now reading 1,593 points.
Supras and Handies gained five each with the BSi and BHSI now reading 1,122 and 639 respectively.
The Wets with mixed feelings; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 649 – plus four and 560 – minus one point respectively.
The WTI as these lines are being written stood at US$ 64.20 and might go soon a bit higher… Caution for the day after…
The Geopolitics as messy as ever… All main issues remain and Turkey plays with its luck… Turks through their president Erdogan have overstayed their welcome… Expect messy situations from Turkey’s aggression! The US trade war with China begins; it was about time…
On another note and tone our team’s trip continues at Livorno, Italy, in one of the world’s most important maritime centres! There is always something to do in Livorno and except the Canal boat trips you can visit museums, the Port – including the old port, the cruise and passenger terminals, see the most famous sculpture there – that of the Quattro Mori or Four Moors, the Republic Square, the Chiesa dei Greci Unity 1606, the Central Market and of course the great reference for Giyseppe Orlnado, di Achitettyra Navale al Mondo, just off the famous Livorno Shipyards! Stunning views from the Grand Palazzo Hotel where a very interesting conference was starting in late afternoon: “Confrontiamoci sulla violenza di genere”; You dead well understand what is all about and we will revert soon with a full report! Excellent snacks and very special local wine at the salami and cheese shop of Mitchell Harris Edward at Via del Giglio !!! La tana del prosciutto is the place of reference and don’t miss it net time you are in Livorno! And what about the promenade waterfront!
In the near-by city of Milan, the World Figure Skating 2018 was in full swing; most people were seating in front of their television given also some Italian successes!
Watch the second video herebelow and get the message. In other social media you will soon see a few dozens of photos… For my forthcoming book, a good chance to bring back memories and draw comparisons from past visits as well as the history on members of my family staying, or visiting Livorno since the early 1800’s!
Have a nice evening and be on guard from any eventuality emanating from Pirates and Terrorists wherever you are on Planet Ocean!
