BDI@1,704: Mid-week Dry Market blues?

by admin

The BDI ended up earlier on today at 1,702 –  down 28 points since yesterday; Geopolitics and in particular the Trade Wars continue. John Faraclas’ midweek recap:

An unsustainable Dry Market with the Supras …”leading” the way… with the BSI at 1,035  – plus three; the only size that gained…

The Capes’ BCI was down 67 points at 3,483…

The Panamaxes BPI lost 21 points and now stands at 1,365…

No change for the Handies BHSI; 541 points.

The closing of the Wets was in red; both Dirties and Cleans were down – 725 – minus eight and 478 – minus two  points respectively.

The WTI stood at US$ 66.92 – lets hope it drops further…

On the Geopolitical front the main issue we cover remain the same and even get worse!

More and more Migrants arrive in Europe from the porous sea and land borders. Let’s also see how FRONTEXs’ Operation Poseidon will work… In our humble view I believe we had enough and enough is enough. The politicians have spectacularly failed to curb the despicable surge of Migrants which completely threatens social cohesion. The only remedy is our long standing position, that of a Naval Blockade with a Mandate and Rules of Engagement; end of the story. We remind you that the politicians in the mainly affected countries such as Spain, Malta, Italy and Greece – Turkey DOESN’T cooperate AT ALL, being far away from the issue turn a blind eye; if they lived on the islands or on the coastline villages, towns and cities which are affected then they might have reacted. The locals are now very upset, the business – touristic ones are also very upset, be it travel agents, hoteliers, restauranteurs you name it. The other countries in Europe and in particular the European Union are also in trouble but alike the countries in the south of Europe they are mostly divided as to which policy to follow.  Migrants from the Middle East and beyond – Africa, Pakistan, and Afghanistan need to remain within Nations having the same religion and customs. What is needed is self- explanatory: a coherent policy prohibiting all this mess. Just have an early evening walk in some of Athens’ seaside suburbs and you will be shocked from the findings! Did I hear you say Terrorists? Eh! They come in mostly undetected, SHAME!!! On a humane note, wonder how humane are the politicians with so many deaths – most of the Migrants  drown and the number is very high!

Have a nice evening and continue to be on guard for any eventuality emanating from Pirates, Terrorists and Criminals of any kind looming in the background wherever you are on Planet Ocean.
