The BDI@1,203: future imperfect

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost 28 points earlier on today thanks, once again to the Capes losing whatever more or less gained during the past ten days… Geopolitical chaos gets another extension before Armageddon’s arrival… John Faraclas’ daily briefing:

Another triple-digit loss for the Capes’ BCI now standing at 1,638 – minus 117 points and under the 1,700 threshold…

The Panamaxes’ BPI gained six points and now reads   1,469…

Plus one point for the Supras’ BSI now at 945…

No change for the Handies’ BHSI “grounded” at 626…

All in all the gap between today and that as of the end of December 2013  is 1,244 points (2,2,47 minus 1,203)…

The Wets produced some lows but also some very good highs; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 1,132 minus three and 792 – plus 12 respectively!

The WTI unfortunately rose and that’s bad news for the poor  masses… few minutes before midnight it stood at US$ 52.86… It might rise but it is time for those “arranging” the oil prices to come down to their senses before they come down to their knees… See what happens in France with the cost of fuel and its tax and get the message…

The Geopolitics as said in the preamble gave Armageddon an extension… You see Wars are not only in the land, sea or in the air. They take place on paper and on computer screens. Trade wars and many other wars are on the cards…

Let’s see these 90 days between the Americans and the Chinese if they work and how… Not a promising finale in Buenos Aires…AND time will tell!

Migrants issues continue…

All issues we discussed and referred last Friday remain with BREXIT producing more twists and turns; just before midnight John Bercow, the Commons Speaker said that there was an “arguable case” that a contempt of Parliament has been committed and that means MPs will debate and vote on the issue tomorrow. All this will delay Theresa May’s BREXIT debate…

Russia and Ukraine still to resolve their crisis; a very dodgy issue. The winner is the one who has the upper hand. Caution as Ukrainian sentimentality might meet Putin’s wrath…

The faulty line from Gib to Afghanistan and from the Caucuses to the Horn of Africa continues to produce mess… including two of the hottest spots – East Med, the Middle East and the Balkans! The Americans and their allies are stand-by! Cyprus feels the American protection but Turkey continues its bullying and Greece closely watches the developments… Greece continues to be in dire straits…

Everybody expects something extraordinary to happen with the Italian budget…

Finally, the UN Conference on Climate Change begun in Katowice, Poland. Climate Change is humanity’s greatest threat and that might even bring the collapse of civilisations and extinction of most of our natural wold. Is there the political will to proceed further and save Planet Ocean…

Naturalist Sir David Attenborough gave a very emotional speech stressing that time is running out and that we must act forthwith! Present was UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres making the point in the opening ceremony that: “it is a matter of life and death.” Indeed we are in a transition to a low carbon economy but let’s see if the politicians and their cronies respond! The World Bank announced a US$ 200 billion to support within the next five years countries taking action against Climate Change! We know more than well and what takes place now in the Shipping Industry and we advise transparency and honesty to govern this more than crucial issue.

That’s all for tonight, have a nice evening and remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists and any Criminals whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean.
