Deployment of environmental monitor device

From today (2 April) through to 9 April, an environmental monitor device is being deployed in waters east of Selat Pauh Anchorage, within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1) 01 deg. 13.297’N / 103 deg. 45.892’E
2) 01 deg. 13.297’N / 103 deg. 46.102’E
3) 01 deg. 13.106’N / 103 deg. 46.102’E
4) 01 deg. 13.106’N / 103 deg. 45.892’E
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.032 of 2019, the working hours are from 0900 hours to 1700 hours daily.
The work involves data collection of acoustic signals using a hydrophone array. A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other
vessels of the work.
Craft involved in the work will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear of the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and to navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 68 (West Control);
and
e) Communicate with West Control on VHF Channel 68 for assistance, if required.

Svitzer announce public tariff increase

Towage and marine service provider Svitzer Australia has advised that with effect from 1 April 2019, its public tariffs are escalated by an average of 2.8% Australia-wide.

Minimum lines call out charge & removal of the Volume Based Surcharge

Svitzer Australia has announced that effective from 1 April 2019, there will be a minimum lines call out charge at Eden. They also advise that the previous 9.1% Volume Based Surcharge (VBS) has been removed.

Truck deliveries to coal terminal to resume

Port Kembla Coal Terminal has indicated that coal truck deliveries will resume by the end of this week. Deliveries by truck had been halted on 21 March following an accident in which a driver was fatally injured.
Round-the-clock vessel loading started again yesterday (1 April) after a week of loading only in daylight (0600-1800 hours).
Rail deliveries were not affected by the interruption of truck deliveries.

Locks back in service

Maintenance works at the Kiel Canal’s Brunsbuettel Locks which began on 18 March have now been finished, and all the big locks are back in service.
