SCHEDULED CHANNEL CLOSURES FOR RIVERFEST 2019

Water Safety Day at Repulse Bay & South Bay
Thursday, April 25, 2019, Hong Kong

The Water Safety Day will be conducted from 0800 hours to 1330 hours on 1 May 2019 (Wednesday) at Repulse Bay and South Bay. The event will include a sea parade of several vessels, a rescue show with helicopter winching demonstration and a 3000-metre swimming session with about 2500 participants.

The event will take place at Repulse Bay and South Bay with the seaward boundaries delineated by straight lines joining the following positions:
(A) the west end of Tau Chau
(B) the southern tip of Middle Island

Masters, coxswains and person-in-charge of vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep well clear of the above area.

Scheduled channel closures for RIVERFEST 2019
Thursday, April 25, 2019, Port Neches, United States

RIVERFEST, an annual event sponsored by the Port Neches Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1st through Sunday, May 5th, 2019. Some RIVERFEST events will take place on the Neches River in the vicinity of Port Neches Park, including boat races and a fireworks display.

As a result, the Coast Guard will enforce Special Local Regulations adjacent to Port Neches Park in Port Neches, Texas, during race events. Specifically, vessels MAY NOT enter or remain in the portion of the Neches River, bound on the west by 30 deg. 00’00” N (near the Harrison Refinery Dock) and on the east by 93 deg. 56’00” W (near FINA upper anchorage), during the boat races. Additionally, the Coast Guard will enforce a 500-yard safety zone around the fireworks barge during the fireworks display.

The Coast Guard and other law enforcement agencies will enforce these regulations during the following times:

May 3:
2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

May 4:
8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
8:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. (Fireworks Display)

May 5:
8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
8:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. (Fireworks Rain Date)

Breaks during the racing events have been scheduled to allow shallow draft traffic to pass. Vessels desiring to transit through this area may contact on-scene patrol vessels on channel 13 or 16 VHF-FM or Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) Port Arthur on channel 65A or 13 VHF-FM.
