Updated maximum authorized draft for transiting vessels

As a result of the amount of rainfall in the Panama Canal watershed, the Panama Canal Authority has further postponed the effective date of the sixth draft update a published in Advisory to Shipping A-13-2019. Therefore, the maximum authorized draft of 13.11 m (43.0 feet) Tropical Fresh Water (TFW) for vessels transiting the Neopanamax locks and 11.73 m (38.5 feet) TFW for vessels transiting the Panamax locks will now become effective June 19, 2019, instead of May 28, 2019.

The maximum authorized draft allowed of 13.41 meters (44.0 feet) TFW for vessels transiting the Neopanamax locks and 12.04 m (39.5 feet) TFW for vessels transiting the Panamax locks, as published in Advisory to Shipping No. A-10-2019, will continue to be in effect until June 12, 2019.

We will continue to monitor the level of Gatun Lake and announce future draft adjustments in a timely manner.

Installation of floating sea barrier off Sentosa (update)
Monday, June 10, 2019, Singapore

The working period for the installation of a floating sea barrier off Sentosa has been extended.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.52 of 2019, the works are being conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – from 18 June to 17 December 2019, within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

Installation of floating sea barrier will be carried out using crane barge and work barge. A tug will be deployed to assist the positioning of the crane barge and work barge.

Safety boats will be in attendance at all times to warn and re-direct craft in the vicinity to keep clear of working area.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 68 (West Control);
and
e) Communicate with West Control on VHF Channel 68 for assistance, if required.

Demolition works at Southern Tuas Basin
Monday, June 10, 2019, Singapore

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.53 of 2019, the demolition of auxiliary facilities, cutting of beams, piles and dolphins will take place – between 07:30 and 19:30 hours Monday to Saturday and 08:00 and 18:00 hours on Sundays and Public Holidays – from 15 July 2019 to 14 January 2020, within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

2) 01 deg. 18·341’N / 103 deg. 39·079’E

Reclamation works at Ayer Merbau Basin

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.54 of 2019 (a revision of Port Marine Notice No. 109 of 2018), reclamation works at Ayer Merbau Basin including removal of undersea de-commissioned cables, debris and existing rock revetment, dredging, sand filling and shore protection, will take place – 24 hours daily including Sundays and Public Holidays – from today (10 June) to 9 December 2019, within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

2) 1 deg. 15.917’N / 103 deg. 44.169’E

3) 1 deg. 15.677’N / 103 deg. 43.866’E

Dredged materials will be transported to the designated dumping ground by barges, which will be assisted by pusher tugs. During the operation, the dredgers and barges will be attended by tug boats which will also be used to shift the dredger and hopper barges when required to clear the basin for vessels to berth or unberth.

The dredger will maintain a safety radius of 50 metres from moored vessels.

Safety boats will be deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of the working area.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

a) Keep well clear from the dredger;

b) Maintain a proper lookout;

c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;

d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 25 (Pasir Panjang Control); and

e) Communicate with Pasir Panjang Control on VHF Channel 25 for assistance, if required.
