The BDI@ 1,700 amid a Geopolitical pandemonium…

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) gained 151 points earlier on today. Geopolitics on all five continents are messy and surely Shipping will one way or another be affected. John Faraclas brief daily recap:

Having reached the 1,700 points threshold – which is 547 points below that as of the end of December 2013, the BDI begins to breath again… but it is early days and as Geopolitics are more than perplexed thing might change soon.

The surge of the Capes’ BSI was a super triple digit one: 359 points, bringing the big size up to 3,298 points. Good but also a dangerous spike… Remember: spikes never last!

The Panamaxes’ BPI was up 136 points at 1,569; not bad…

The Supras’ BSI clinched 11 points – the first double digit for while and now reads 814!

Small gains but gains for the Handies’ BHSI now at 443 – up three points.

We do not expect this euphoria to continue at this pace; tomorrow it’s another day! At best within the next three month there is the possibility of major setbacks…

Mixed feelings for the Wets; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 660 – minus 13 and 551 – plus four points respectively…

The WTI its about to end up down to US$ 56.80 – that is US$ 1,56 down since yesterday’s US$ 57.34… Come on, let’s see the fall!!

The MIGRANTS epidemic continues at an unprecedented  pace. SHAME SHAME SHAME to all Politicians, Diplomats, NGO’s  involved of not knowing an iota on how to settle this epidemic that they create. We can entertain them live on any A1 TV station! We politely provoke them and we repeat the only remedy that can work: Naval Blockade – to all regions MIGRANTS embark, a Mandate and Rules of Engagement; end of the story…

What happened to the ULCC “Grace 1” in Gibraltar that Iran got so interested and threatening with a tit for tat the UK government for its special forces involvement to boar and stop the vessel… Embargoes mean embargoes, sanctions means sanctions and tariffs mean tariffs…

The East Med continues to witness a built-up of forces in order some nations to protect their vested interests, others their strategic interests and others to create mess as they wish to interpret the International Law and the Law of the Seas in the way they prefer. CAUTION as Turkey might provoke a conflagration in the region and same might ignite the tinderbox of the entire Balkans and beyond. NATO and the EU must intervene forthwith as Turkey proves an untrusted ally – with NATO and a also a not welcome member of the European Union whose territory violates every single day… The S-400 and F-35 will create mess for all in the region as president Erdogan has his “own” agenda… CAUTION.

Turkey’s behaviour and bulling of Cyprus, Greece, Syria, Iraq and others is despicable and its main aim is to destabilize the entire region; end of the story!

In Greece next door all are focused on this Sunday’s parliamentary elections. Will the centre-right opposition win with an overwhelming majority? How does Tsipras responds to this?   Who ever makes the new Greek Government and particular if this is Kyriakos Mitsotakis MUST make or beak from the past and the many from the wrong side of the Greek Establishment MUST be axed. Regret but this is the only way forward! He MUST also change the elcetroal law to somthing alike here in the United Kingdom: One candidate per party per constituency – I have said this in detail live on SBC TV 18 June 2018 and in the repeat in November 2018! CAUTION!

BREXIT LOOKS QUITE BUT WAIT TO SEE THE ELECTION OF THE NEW CONSERVATIVE PARTY LEADE AND THEN…

In Africa and in particular in Sudan there is a hope for a compromise between the military rulers and the opposition; we might know tomorrow… Add the main issue of Africa which affects the Mediterranean Sea, Libya and see more troubles bothering Shipping. General Khalifa Haftar has great support and will not easily back off; round three for Libya begins now…. Ultra caution should be observed…

In South America and in particular in its north sector, Venezuela things are getting sour: there are accusations of president Maduro’s regime having death squads against the opposition. CAUTION! Time is more than running out for president Maduro!!!  A bit south now, in Argentina: Thank the Gods that Rive Plate, the Argentinian Soccer Club opened its stadium for the homeless people that otherwise might die in the streets due to the sever cold weather. Red Solidaria, a volunteer charity group the supports this development distributes also warm clothes… There is a rise of poverty in the wealthiest area – Buenos Aires, and that’s also an issue. CAUTION but also hope as the economic recession has caused incalculable damage hence many take it to the streets…

In the Far East Hong Kong remains in limbo as the Chinese will tighten the grip and might possibly change Carrie Lam the territory’s  chief executive… Can Mrs Lam survive?  CAUTION! China is trying also in any way its rulers wish to expand its power via naval and mainly commercial port bases to be “used” as necessary in the very near future! China will escalate the provocations in South China Sea and that will “bring in” the wrath of the Pax Americana… CAUTION. China in a very sort period of time makes its leap forward with any backing whatsoever… Let’s see how the Chinese deal with Taiwan… Japan as always is closely watching…

North Korea must behave as well as its backers… Who ever is the USA president in the White House, the USA will push forward!

AND Putin’s Russia  watches everything very closely!

On another tone and note today is the 4th of July, USA’s Independence Day: Long live America – USA!!!

Have a nice evening and remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean.
