The BDI@1947: the fall?

The BDI lost 67 points earlier on today given that its two main drivers the Capes – mainly and to a lesser extent the Panamaxes fell. Above all the psychological threshold of 2,000 was lost! Geopolitics: still getting worse. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:

The Capes’ BCI lost 199 points and now stands at 3,609…

The Panamaxes BPI down 29 to 2,180 points

The Supras’ BSI down seven to 1,012 points…

The Handies’ BHSI survived and gained six valuable points! Not bad eh!

The Wets once again with mixed feelings; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 628  minus two and 471 – plus two points respectively!

The WTI as these lines are being written stands at US$ 55.89 – a faction up from yesterday’s US$ 55.88!

The Geopolitics continue its despicable course on all issues we cover lately:

MIGRANTS: more mess with 116 missing off the coast of Libya… I guess the time has come that somebody MUST do something on the burning issue before we see more tragedies and we can tell you that we won’t accept any excuse whatsoever…

Turkey and USA relationship goes from worse to worse not only with the S-400 and the F-35’s but also on the Syrian front where the Turks challenge the Americans and their views for a “buffer” zone there upsetting the Kurds to an extent that we might witness a big bloodshed…

Moreover Turkey continues to violate the Cypriot EEZ and the morons of Brussels still keep a blind eye. Can you imagine: this Cypriot EEZ is also the European Union’s EEZ… CAUTION…

In the Aegean Sea too the Turks continue to violate Greece’s and Europe’s airspace as well as the territorial waters…

EU’s officials totally reject Boris Johnson’s BREXIT policy… Expect the mess… let’s see how his cabinet performs under the circumstances as time and arithmetics is the name of the game… Boris Johnson cabinet is for many a big surprise; a complete overhaul. Lets see Grant Shapps who replaces Chris Grayling, what he delivers! Meantime Harry Theochari, Maritime UK Chair, wrote Boris Johnson a more than interesting and important letter for our Shipping Industry and its importance for London and the entire United Kingdom… Let’s see the response!

Will Pedro Sánchez form a coalition government in Spain?

The heatwave in UK and in the Continent continues to break records… CAUTION though should be observed to avoid accidents and fatalities…

On another tone and note today we were honoured to be invited by Dr. Evangelos Markopoulos at Queen Mary University for a guest lecture on the module “International Business” emphasizing the Shipping sector. Most importantly, the audience were from all over Planet Ocean. We will revert with a live video later on as we are facing some technical issues.

Moreover good to hear that the daughter of president of the HESGB – Hellenic Engineers Society of Great Britain, Ariana D. Monioudis, has completed this month her Masters of Architecture at ESALA (Edinburgh School of Architecture) receiving the “Helen A. Rose Prize” for Best Graduating Student!
