BDI: another dangerous fall amid Geopolitical chaos

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost 61 points earlier on today and 181 since last Friday the 13th of September (when it stood at 2,312 points) and now stands at 2,131 points thanks to the as ever volatile Capes. Geopolitics are so dodgy with Armageddon ante portas. John Faraclas’ daily and weekly recap:

The Capes’ BCI lost 184 points and now reads 3,952 losing the 4,000 points psychological threshold! The Capes’ fall within two weeks is nearly 1,000 – 997 to be precise. The BCI lost 595 points since last week’s 4,547!!! CAUTION is advised although cool players have foreseen this fall…

The Panamaxes’ BPI was down 39 appoints approaching the danger zone of 2,000 – at 2,013 things sound odd… On a weekly basis the BPI was down 120 points – from 2,133 last week…

The Supras’ BSI was up four points at 1,300 and just one since last week’s 1,299 – stable?

The Handies too had a  “better” day with one point plus at 692. The weekly was the same valuable point, just one from 691… Again a stable situ…

The Wets on the up; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 828 – plus 33 points and 451 plus three points respectively. On a weekly basis the Dirties were  up 120 points – from 708 and the Cleans  were up at 451 – just one from 450 (13/9…

The WTI was up at US$ 58.09 and on a weekly basis  US$ 3.24 – up from US$ 54.85 (13/9).

In the aftermath of a successful London International Shipping Week, were too many issues were aired, the international shipping community in its entirety looked sceptical but also vibrant – still some cannot face the reality…  All now will be determined by the actions taken by the most capable shipping entities given the blur situation in a perplexed Geopolitical climate, as:

Migrants, The Trade Wars, The faulty line from Gib to Afghanistan, The disarray in the EU and the messy BREXIT were more surprises are to be expected, the UN meetings in New York on all issues but mainly on Climate Change and all that jazz as hype governs, The African mess – a liability for all give the proxy wars there, Venezuela which might explode, Argenitina still in financial mess, The Iranian “cause” following the attacks in Aramco’s installations – still though the Iranians deny this – in general the Hormuz issue and how China will react, The Japanese on guard for the entire issues in the Pacific basin and other issues compose a blur Geopolitical environment coupled with the super power’s internal issues. CAUTION!

On another tone and note remind you – even at this last moment the Chios Marine Club 20th Anniversary tomorrow  Saturday 21 Sept 2019 at the Golf Prive Glyfada Club and on Wednesday the 25th of September 2019, the Lifeline’s Captain’s Dinner at the Yacht Club of Greece in aid for supporting the state hospitals in Greece; a very noble cause!

Have a nice evening and weekend but remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean!
