On Armistice Day maritime union RMT remembers the sacrifice of the Merchant Navy and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary
RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said:
“Today we remember all those who have lost their lives in conflicts around the globe and as a maritime trade union we particularly remember the brave men and women of the Merchant Navy and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary who have paid the ultimate price on the seas from the convoys, to the Falklands and in many other theatres of war.
“We have heard politicians today talking about addressing issues relating to the armed forces and I would remind them that our members on the navy supplies lifeline, the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, who are deployed to danger zones around the world are still engaged in industrial action in a fight for pay justice. It is about time they were given the respect and dignity that they deserve.”
