USING INDUSTRY BEST PRACTICES EFFECTIVELY (MARITIME SAFETY, MARINE ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION AND HUMAN ELEMENT) – LIVE VIRTUAL CLASSROOM

Maritime Academy Hellas is offering on 18 and 19 June 2020 (10:00 – 13:30), a one-day course on best practices in the shipping industry.

This workshop is designed to be user-friendly. It is intended for all operators and aims to assist them in enhancing their understanding as well as evaluation of how they have integrated  such practices in their work. The workshop also provides practical support to ensure the overall understanding of the areas concerned.  Presented as a workshop, the participants will learn the principal sources and content of industry best practices and how to use them in day-to-day operations.

Course objectives:

  • To familiarize participants with the meaning, content and use in practice of best practices in the shipping industry, taking the form of Codes of conduct, Guides, Procedures Guides, Guidelines, Manuals, Annual Reports, etc;
  • To familiarize the participants with the industry bodies which adopt best practices for the industry;
  • To introduce the participants to well established industry best practices in the areas of safety, marine environment protection and seafarers’ protection/human element;
  • To train the participants to follow effectively recent developments in relevant fields and integrate them in their work.

Emphasis will be given on:

  • Exposure to industry best practice affecting safety, marine environment protection and the human element stemming from the IMO, ILO, ICS, ISF, MoUs, ITOPF, OCIMF, EMSA etc.;
  • Understanding the authority of relevant resources and their relevance to everyday shipping operations;
  • Appreciate how industry best practice can support effective implementation, enhance performance, fill gaps and strengthen regulatory compliance.
