On 1 April 2009, the G20 leaders came together in London for their second summit amid the darkest hours of the financial crisis. It was the first trip abroad for President Obama. The leaders committed themselves to a bold action plan to restart the world economy. That plan helped launch the recovery. Twelve years later, the world faces a pandemic and its catastrophic consequences. The G20, largely missing in action in recent years, should revive the spirit of London, this time led by Joe Biden.
