NAMEPA’s 15th Annual Conference and Awards Program Registration Open

Carleen Lyden Walker

Focuses on the Future of Shipping

Join NAMEPA on October 28th, 2021

September 16, 2021: Carleen Lyden Walker, Co-Founder and Executive Director, announced that registration is open for the North American Marine Environment Protection Association’s (NAMEPA) 15th Annual Marine Environment Protection Conference and Awards Events Program being held virtually on October 28th, 2021. While shipping wrestles with a myriad of changes, it is also looking to the future. What will the regulations look like? The markets? The fleets? The fuel?  This year’s Annual Conference Program will feature industry professionals exploring the many facets of shipping’s future through discussion of their expectations, aspirations and potential rewards.

“Shipping is in a transformational time, with maritime experts seeking insight as to what the future holds,” observed Ms. Walker.  “As a community, it is important to discuss and dissect the many pathways forward.  One of NAMEPA’s hallmark traits is to provide a forum for such a discussion, and given the event is virtual, we are delighted to offer this opportunity to the global industry.”

NAMEPA Chairman Joe Hughes, and CEO/President of the Shipowners Claims Bureau (the American Club) will open the conference, followed by RDML John Mauger, Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy for the USCG who will speak to future regulations; Cynthia Hudson, CEO of HudsonAnalytix will forecast future risks; and Jeanne Grasso, Partner at Blank Rome LLC will address specific regulatory implementation on the horizon. There will also be a leadership panel comprised of the winners of NAMEPA’s Awards program.

The conference will be followed by NAMEPA’s Annual Marine Environment Protection Awards (MEP Awards) Program, which recognizes the achievements of industry leaders, companies, organizations and government agencies in their efforts to “Save Our Seas.” The MEP Awards are given in recognition of an individual or organization’s innovative and extraordinary effort to commit themselves to preserving the marine environment as exemplified by a commitment to programs which have specific objectives set for environmental performance and improvement.
