Representative wines from the entire spectrum of the Greek vineyard were at the center of a special event titled “50 Great Greek Wines (50 GGW) Goes Big in London,” held on May 29 in London under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO).
The organiser was the Greek Master of Wine (MW), Yiannis Karakasis, and the event featured participation from 33 Greek wineries and leading British wine experts and sommeliers, representatives from wine importing companies, wine journalists, and influencers specializing in gastronomy, wine tourism, and travel.
The purpose of the event was to promote Greek wines to a targeted audience in the British market, aiming to establish a recognisable identity for Greek winemakers and simultaneously highlight the enriched Greek tourism product.
During the event, guests had the opportunity to taste wines from the 50 GGW list and additional labels from each producer’s portfolio. They were also informed about the numerous experiences that wine tourism in Greece offers throughout the year.
The GNTO was represented by the head of the UK & Ireland office, Eleni Skarveli.
