LONDON, 09 April 2025 – The Mission to Seafarers, a leading seafarers welfare charity, is now accepting nominations for its prestigious International Seafarers Awards 2025.
Taking place on Friday, 31st October 2025, and now in its eighth year, the annual awards has established itself as a highlight of the Singapore maritime calendar, celebrating individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to enhancing the welfare and wellbeing of seafarers globally. The closing deadline for nominations is 7th July 2025.
The Awards Ceremony serves as a testament to the industry’s commitment to seafarer welfare, bringing together maritime professionals from around the globe for a glittering gala dinner. Held at the illustrious Fairmont Singapore Hotel, it gives the industry an opportunity to celebrate the backbone of the industry – seafarers. The event promises an evening celebration and networking as we honour the invaluable efforts of seafarers, shore-based staff, and shipping companies who champion crew welfare.
Jan Webber, Director of Development at The Mission to Seafarers, emphasises the significance of recognising initiatives dedicated to making a significant difference to seafarers’ welfare, commenting: “Our Seafarers Awards provide a unique opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the remarkable achievements and efforts of those who dedicate their work to supporting seafarers and the critical work they do. The Mission to Seafarers invites individuals and organisations to nominate deserving candidates for the following categories:
• Seafarer Award – The seafarer who has made a significant contribution to welfare at sea. • Shore-based Award – The shore-based person who has made a significant contribution to seafarers’ welfare. • Cadet Award –The Cadet or Trainee who has made a significant contribution to seafarers’ welfare at sea or ashore. • Innovation Award – The company that has embraced a new programme, project, or training which has enhanced seafarers’ welfare. • Rescue Award – The Captain or Crew who has coordinated a successful rescue operation to save lives at sea. • Secretary General Award – The person or company who has shown sustained efforts to improve seafarers’ welfare at sea or ashore.
