Port Solent’s 30th anniversary shortlisted for national events award
Portsmouth’s leading waterside leisure destination Port Solent, has been shortlisted for a Purple Apple Marketing Award for its 2018 anniversary event, ‘Port Solent’s 30th Birthday Celebration’.
The event was held on 28 July 2018, to celebrate 30 years since the opening of Port Solent, and featured a plethora of 80s themed entertainment for all the family, including live music, street theatre and an exhibition showcasing images of Port Solent throughout the years.
The Lively Lady, the very first yacht to visit the marina when it opened, also made a triumphant return, much to the delight of more than 11,000 visitors, including the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth.
The nomination comes on the back of a win at last year’s Purple Apple Marketing Awards for its 2017 Comic Con event, which attracted more than 20,000 visitors and was considered a huge success.
Lisa Fowler, Events and Marketing Manager at Port Solent, said: “We are so grateful to be shortlisted for the ‘Events’ Purple Apple Merit Award for a second year in a row. It was a fantastic day and this nomination is truly a wonderful belated birthday present.”
The prestigious Purple Apple Marketing Awards will be held at The Brewery in London on Thursday 9 May 2019.
