The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost 17 points earlier on today; Geopolitics still enigmatically perplexed …and the Chios Marine Club Christmas party makes waves. John Faraclas’ daily recap:
Another triple-digit points were lost for the Capes’ BCI now standing at 2,264 – minus 129! Volatility – on all counts, at its best…
Minimal losses for the Panamaxes’ BPI now at 1,492 – minus two points; Christopher Columbus would have liked this number…
Plus two points for the Supras’ BSI now at 979…
The Handies’ lost four point and the BHSI now reads 607…
The Wets once again with mixed feelings; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 1,240 points – plus ten and 860 – minus 35 respectively…
The WTI managed to turn the tide and was up today and let’s see the outcome on this rise – a fifteen months low… recorded yesterday at US$ 46.60 and today’s closing at US$ 48.17 sends the message of what is yet to come; even an upwards rally could be expected but…
The Geopolitics still messy….
All issues we cover over the last years and particularly over the last 12 months, unfortunately, remain the same… Caution as things are getting off hand and we might see soon the World on fire for a multiple of reasons AND we are not going to be surprised at all!
MIGRANTS still maintain the lead on all issues followed by BREXIT – are we going to see a non-deal situ and how people from both sides of the Channel and in reality all over Planet Ocean will deal with…
We disagree with the US Army leaving Syria… OK, fine the Islamic State has been defeated but still USA’s ground troops are needed. Its departure will cause many unwanted troubles particularly with Turkey…
The East Med and the Aegean Sea mighty produce some unwanted situations with Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and others in the region… CAUTION!
The Balkans in turmoil…
No change with respect the Russian – Ukraine saga…
Italy and the EU … have agreed on the Italian Budget and I guess all are “happy”; let’s see the day after though!
In South Africa a warrant to arrest Grace Mugabe has been issued…
Former Brazilian president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will remain behind bars as a court ruling was overturned by court’s president… Let’s see what Lula can do now…
What’s up with China vis-à-vis Canadian spies…? CAUTION!
On another tone and note earlier on tonight the Chios Marine Club had its Christmas drinks and dips at the SiL – Shakespeare in Love down town Piraeus off Akti Miaouli. Over 100 members turned out in a rather cold evening – sudden temperature drop, but the atmosphere inside was more than …warm and jovial.
Chios is the most powerful place all over Planet Ocean with a very successful number of shipowners and great seafaring tradition. Well done!

That’s all for tonight and wish you have a nice evening; remain though on guard as per our every night warning to avoid actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and Business Hooligan wherever you are on Planet Ocean!
