The donation will fund three Specialist Employment Consultants as part of the charity’s ‘Wounded to Work’ project. The programme aims to ensure that injured soldiers have the bespoke support they need to get back into civilian work if they are no longer able to serve. It is estimated that 2000 soldiers will need this type of support over the next four years.

Colonel Paul Cummings, Director Grants & Welfare, of the charity said: “I am delighted that we have been able to extend the reach of the Specialist Employment Consultants working alongside wounded, injured and sick solders.”

The three Specialist Employment Consultants will be based in some of the UK’s largest garrison towns, Tidworth, Colchester and Catterick, enabling support to be provided where it is needed most. The consultants for Tidworth and Colchester have already been recruited, with Catterick soon to follow.

Cummings said: “Talking to the soldiers themselves, many who have suffered appalling injuries, they are consistent in saying what a fantastic resource this is and what a difference it makes to be supported by specialists that can see beyond the injury to the potential beyond.”

Michael Hardingham, Chairman of Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund said: “The Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund has been providing support for our heroes for more than 200 years. We are extremely pleased to continue that support by helping to fund this vital programme.”
