Navigation near HK Convention & Exhibition Centre Heliport
—————
Since the commissioning of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre
Heliport in May 2012, it has been observed that the traffic behavior of
some small local craft tend to navigate extremely close to the shore of the
Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Heliport. This practice is
considered both imprudent and dangerous.

Due to geographical features of the Heliport together with the downwash and
noise generated by the helicopters during landing and taking off, it may
affect the respective sighting and hearing of visual and sound signals of
local craft navigating in the vicinity of the waters fronting the Heliport.

To improve the traffic environment thereat, vessels navigating in the
vicinity, whether powered or under sail, are required to give this Heliport
as wide a berth as is commensurate with other navigational commitments and
with the regulations of the port and preferably at a distance of not less
than 100 metres away from the shore of the Heliport.
