Following an invitation by the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace, HELMEPA is taking part in the “Thermaikos Gulf Days” Art Exhibition at the Port of Thessaloniki, which will operate between 1st and 15th June 2013.

As the title of the exhibition implies, the aim is to inform and heighten the awareness among the younger generations in order to achieve the effective protection of the Thermaikos Gulf ecosystem.

HELMEPA’s contribution to the Exhibition consists of 18 group artworks created by “HELMEPA Junior” members in the framework of the Panhellenic painting contests of the program that have been run over the past decade.

During his opening address, the Minister of Macedonia-Thrace,  Mr. T. Karaoglou, emphasized the significance of heightening the awareness among youth on environmental issues in working towards achieving a clean Thermaikos Gulf and went on to thank the organisers and participants.

Speaking on behalf of HELMEPA, Mr. C. Triantafillou highlighted the Association’s fruitful cooperation with the educational community of Northern Greece, the Municipal Authorities and now with the Ministry in the successful operation of the “HELMEPA Junior” program.

The Exhibition, which is kindly being housed in Warehouse D, Pier A of the Port of Thessaloniki, will be visited by students from schools around Thessaloniki, who will also have the opportunity to take part in various practical activities. The Exhibit will also be open to the public daily between 9:30am and 1pm and between 6:30pm and 9:30pm.

HELMEPA expresses the hope that the Exhibition will fulfill its aim and will help to heighten the awareness among adults, so that the Thermaikos Gulf may enjoy the protection of all those who benefit from its resources in the wider region.
