Radio reporting requirements
There have been several recent reported cases of vessels that have not been
conforming to the ‘Radio Reporting Requirements’ for the Port of Soyo which
are clearly defined within ‘Harbour Rules and General Directions’ (Revision
1) issued 1st August 2013 as supplemented by Safety and Instruction
Notices; which are in place to ensure the safe movement of all vessels
navigating within Port of Soyo.
I would like to re-iterate that the movement of any vessel whether to, from
or within the Port of Soyo must be authorised by Soyo Port Control and that
this Traffic Clearance shall be received prior to any such movement
occurring….
….Any further occurrences of failure to comply with these requirements
may well lead to a fine being levied as appropriate.

Cross Harbour Swimming Race
A swimming race across the Eastern Harbour from Lei Yue Mun, Kowloon to
Quarry Bay, Hong Kong Island will take place from 0830 hours to 1030 hours
on Sunday 6 October 2013.
About 2, 000 swimmers, under the escort of guard boats, are expected to
participate in the race.
Launches of the Marine Department and Marine Police will be stationed or
patrolling in the Eastern Harbour and Tathong Channel before and during the
event.
Masters, coxswains and persons-in-charge of all vessels navigating in the
vicinity should proceed with caution and give a wide berth to the swimmers,
and follow the directions given by officers on Marine Department and Marine
Police launches regulating marine traffic in the vicinity.
As the marine traffic in the Eastern Harbour will be affected during the
race, vessel operators are advised to adjust their sailing schedule in
order to avoid obstructing the race.
In case of inclement weather, the race will be postponed to Sunday 20
October 2013 with the same time sequence as mentioned above.
