Canal still closed
The Kiel Canal remains closed until further notice due to prevailing
adverse weather and the instability of a damaged vessel involved in a
collision yesterday (28 October).
Salvage works are currently underway.
As the damaged vessel has not yet been stabilized sufficiently and bunker
oil is penetrating into the Kiel Canal waters, the Canal Authority has
decided to maintain the closure for another 24 hours until at least midday
tomorrow (30 October).
