Construction of a new Sakhalin LNG plant slated for 2015

Development of design of a new plant  for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Sakhalin will commence in early 2014 and the facility construction is scheduled for the first half of 2015, the Sakhalin Governor and regional government’s press office said. The project issues were discussed at a meeting of the LNG project working group. 
Currently, the regional government is working with Rosneft and Exxon Mobil on the Sakhalin LNG project implementation.
In 2013-2014, Rosneft and Exxon Mobil plan to complete the design work, including the choice of liquefaction technology and defining the basic requirements to equipment, perform engineering surveys, elaboration of design documentation in accordance with Russian standards for LNG plant, as well as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
The projected capacity of the new facility will be 5 million tonnes of LNG per year with the prospect of its future expansion.
